Iberdrola and Portuguese ceramics manufacturer Gres Panaria Portugal have entered a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to supply 92GWh of photovoltaic solar energy, starting in 2025.
The deal aligns with Gres Panaria's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and supports its long-term energy stability goals. Iberdrola, in turn, reinforces its role in promoting renewable energy in Portugal's industrial sector, particularly ceramics.
“This PPA with Gres Panaria Portugal reflects our commitment to sustainable development and the promotion of renewable energy, especially in a prominent sector for Portugal such as ceramics,” said Rui Afonso, managing director of Iberdrola Clientes Portugal.
The agreement also offers Gres Panaria protection against energy market volatility, ensuring stable electricity costs and uninterrupted production.
Gres Panaria's chairman, Marco Mussini, emphasized the broader sustainability goals, noting: “This agreement reinforces our mission to produce sustainably, maintaining the highest quality standards, and at the same time reducing the environmental impact of our operation.”
The ceramics company, known for its Margres, Love Tiles, and Gresart brands, integrates sustainability into its industrial processes, contributing to Portugal's green economy.
