Swiss renewables company and energy trader Axpo Holding AG has secured 163 MW of solar and wind power capacity in France's latest energy tenders. The company announced that its French solar unit, Urbasolar, was awarded 124 MWp, the second-largest capacity in the dedicated solar tender.
The awarded capacity will be split across 20 ground-mounted, agricultural, and floating solar projects located in nine regions of France.
In addition to the solar success, Axpo's wind business, Volkswind, secured 39 MW across four wind projects in a separate tender.
Both Urbasolar and Volkswind expressed satisfaction with the results. Antoine Millioud, CEO of Urbasolar, highlighted the company's achievement, noting that Axpo's cumulative awarded solar capacity in France has now surpassed 1.7 GW since the country's energy regulatory commission began issuing tenders more than a decade ago. Millioud reaffirmed the company's commitment to leveraging its expertise to deliver innovative projects that advance the energy transition.
Volkswind CEO Katja Stommel added that the awarded wind projects reflect the company's strong portfolio built through a combination of local knowledge and international experience. Stommel emphasized the company's dedication to providing sustainable energy solutions that benefit the communities where they operate.
