Standard Solar, a portfolio company of Brookfield, announced the acquisition of a 25-MWp photovoltaic (PV) project in California from utility-scale developer Balanced Rock Power.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. This acquisition aligns with Standard Solar's strategy to target projects between 20 MW and 75 MW, enabling the company to grow its renewable energy portfolio and contribute sustainable power to the grid.
The Windhub Solar B project, located in Kern County, will be interconnected with an existing substation to supply clean energy to Southern California Edison.
Once operational, the plant will generate approximately 56,670 MWh of green power annually, addressing energy delivery needs in the Mojave area. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2025, with the PV park covering around 160 acres.
This acquisition follows Standard Solar's purchase of an 84-MW community PV portfolio in Illinois and an 18.5-MW project bundle in Vermont earlier this year.
