A turbine blade at the 372-MW Bjornberget wind farm in Sweden broke on November 4, prompting safety measures around the site, owners Enlight Renewable Energy and Prime Capital's Prime Green Infrastructure Fund (PGEIF) reported.
The incident occurred at the large-scale wind farm, located about 10 kilometers southeast of Ange, which began construction in 2021 and was commissioned in 2023. The Bjornberget facility comprises 60 turbines from Siemens Gamesa's 5-MW-plus onshore platform. RES, responsible for the construction of Bjornberget, also handles its operations and maintenance.
In a joint statement, Enlight and PGEIF confirmed that no injuries occurred and that a safety perimeter was established. “We urge everyone visiting the area to respect the closures to avoid the risk of personal injury,” the owners stated, noting that an investigation is in progress to determine the cause of the blade break.
Enlight and PGEIF said they are “in ongoing contact with the relevant stakeholders and authorities” to address the incident.
