Desert Technologies to Invest USD 200 Million in Solar Manufacturing Facility

plans to invest SAR 750 million (USD 200 million/EUR 183.4 million) in the construction of a 5-GW panel and cell factory in Jeddah's third industrial zone on Arabia's west coast.

The company has partnered with the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones, known as Modon, to develop the industrial complex.

The facility will cover an area of 170,000 square meters on land provided by Modon, featuring production lines capable of manufacturing 2 GW of solar panels and 3 GW of solar cells.

Desert Technologies aims to meet the rising local demand for solar energy solutions while enhancing the Kingdom's standing in global non-oil export markets.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to localize manufacturing technology in , aligning with recent projects that include the establishment of facilities for solar panels, wind turbines, and energy storage systems (BESS).
