GreenIron Partners with Norwegian Hydrogen for Green Hydrogen Supply

has entered into a contract to procure green from for use as a reducing agent at its fossil-free metal production facility in Sandviken, . Deliveries are set to commence shortly, with the hydrogen sourced from Norwegian Hydrogen's newly opened production plant in Hellesylt, .

As GreenIron ramps up production in 2025, the contracted hydrogen volumes are expected to increase, necessitating the addition of dedicated hydrogen production capacity. Simen Skaare Eriksen, Chief Commercial Officer of Norwegian Hydrogen, stated, “As GreenIron scales up production during 2025, the contracted hydrogen volumes will quickly ramp up to levels which require that we bring additional and dedicated hydrogen production capacity on stream.”

Norwegian Hydrogen recently announced the successful completion of its initial hydrogen deliveries from its Hellesylt site, which has a daily production capacity of up to 1.3 tonnes. The plant currently supplies hydrogen to its first customer, Norwegian construction firm Veidekke, for use in asphalt production.

Ulrika Molander, COO of GreenIron, emphasized the importance of this partnership, saying, “Collaboration with Norwegian Hydrogen secures our supply chain as we begin commercial production and prepare for scaling up volumes and expansion.”

GreenIron is set to launch its first full-scale production facility in the Sandviken Industrial Park, located approximately 160 kilometers (99 miles) north of Stockholm, this year.
