Inyanga Marine Energy Group has initiated a crowdfunding round in partnership with Crowdcube to attract investors for its patented tidal energy technology division, HydroWing. The company describes tidal energy as a 100% predictable renewable energy source, positioning it as one of the most reliable forms of clean power available.
HydroWing aims to harness the full potential of tidal energy through its patented “all in one” solution and Tocardo T-3 turbines. In September 2024, the company was awarded the largest tidal energy project in the UK during the government's recent Contracts for Difference allocation round. This development effectively doubles the capacity of the HydroWing project at Morlais in Wales to 20 megawatts (MW), building on the 10 MW awarded in the previous round.
Additionally, Inyanga Marine has secured a contract to deliver the first tidal energy plant in Southeast Asia.
Chief executive Richard Parkinson commented, “We are progressing on our mission to become the world leaders in tidal energy. This crowdfunding round is an opportunity to be part of our exciting journey.”
Inyanga estimates that ocean energy could reach a global market value of €53 billion annually by 2050.
