Portuguese maritime engineering firm Etermar has launched Etermar Energia, a new branch aimed at becoming a key partner in the development of offshore wind projects worldwide. The new division leverages Etermar's extensive experience in concrete production, secondary steel, and sea fastening structures.
With port facilities in Setúbal, Portugal, covering over 17 hectares, Etermar Energia plans to expand by 2026. The company has the capacity to manufacture and export globally, equipped with 30 cranes, more than 30 operating vessels, and 37 support vessels.
“We believe that Etermar's experience, technical capacity, and commitment to innovation, combined with our market knowledge and global network of partners, will make Etermar Energia a leading partner to players in the offshore wind market,” said Luís Machado, executive director of Etermar Energia.
The company is currently involved in ONDEP, a Horizon Europe-funded project focused on advancing wave energy technology. Etermar Energia will produce reinforced concrete floating foundations and steel structures for this initiative.
Additionally, Etermar is working on reinforced concrete floaters for a project funded by Next Generation EU, coordinated by the Portuguese Alliance for Energy Transition. It is also collaborating with ECOncrete to enhance the ecological value of submerged concrete structures by promoting marine species growth.
