Shanghai Sermatec Energy Technology Co Ltd announced on Friday the installation of a 5.1 MW/17 MWh system (BESS) in for a commercial and industrial application. This project aims to enhance the energy efficiency of a solar plant operated by an undisclosed client, who previously faced challenges in capturing excess solar power generation.

According to Sermatec, the client was wasting during the day due to a lack of storage and subsequently purchasing power from the grid at night. To address this issue, Sermatec deployed 48 units of its EasyCube Series 372 kWh Energy Storage Systems. Each unit utilizes advanced 3.2V 280Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, boasting a conversion efficiency of up to 99% and a design life exceeding 15 years.

The solution is designed to improve energy storage efficiency, reliability, and safety while mitigating challenges associated with solar over-generation. Additionally, the project incorporates Sermatec's proprietary energy management system (EMS) that integrates solar power generation, optimizes peak and off-peak usage, and enables real-time monitoring. The system also features a battery management system (BMS) to ensure the safety and health of the batteries.
