German solar developer hep global GmbH has announced a contract with the Canadian government to sell renewable energy certificates (RECs) from its 120-MWp Alderson solar project in Alberta.
Under this agreement, hep solar will sell 30% of the annual RECs generated by the project at a fixed price over a 20-year period.
Located in southern Alberta, the Alderson solar farm is hep solar's largest project to date. Covering 270 hectares (667.2 acres), it will consist of approximately 200,000 solar modules and is expected to generate over 190 GWh of electricity each year.
Earlier this year, the Alberta Utilities Commission approved hep solar's plans to build and operate the facility, and the project is reportedly progressing as scheduled.
