(PSE) has announced plans to enhance its renewable energy portfolio by adding up to 342 MW of solar and capacity. This initiative includes the development of a new photovoltaic (PV) project and a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a battery energy storage system with BrightNight.

The utility will develop a 142-MW solar project within the existing Lower Snake River Wind Facility footprint, leveraging existing transmission rights and .

Located in Garfield County, the Appaloosa park is expected to generate electricity for over 30,000 homes. Construction is set to begin in 2025, with commercial operations anticipated by December 2026. The project has already received a conditional use permit from Garfield County.

In addition, PSE has signed a PPA for a 200-MW/800-MWh battery energy storage system in Pierce County, . The Greenwater lithium-ion facility, designed and installed by BrightNight, is expected to be operational by mid-2027 and will provide power for approximately 70,000 of PSE's residential customers. This battery project was developed by BrightNight in partnership with Power and AECOM.
