Brazil's Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene) has approved a BRL 92.8 million (USD 17 million/EUR 15.6 million) loan package for solar and wind energy projects totaling 189.3 MW in the Northeast region. The disbursement, facilitated through Sudene's northeast development fund (FDNE), aims to bolster the country's renewable energy infrastructure.
According to Sudene, the financing will support several projects, including the Ventos de Santa Tereza 01 wind park with a capacity of 39.9 MW, owned by AES Brasil Energia SA. Additionally, the Eolica Canudos II and III wind parks, jointly contributing 99.4 MW, will receive their final payments under this initiative.
The loan will also fund a 50 MW solar park developed by Sol Serra do Mel V SPE SA, marking a significant step in expanding solar energy capacity in the region.
This funding underscores Brazil's commitment to increasing renewable energy production, aligning with global efforts to mitigate climate change and enhance energy security.
