Green Gold Energy Pty Ltd announced on Thursday the successful attainment of development approval for its ambitious Morgan Solar & Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in South Australia.
Known historically for smaller-scale projects, the solar energy developer and contractor is now advancing its largest endeavor to date with the Morgan plant. This facility will encompass 108 MW/130 MWdc of solar capacity and include 91.7 MWh of BESS, spanning a vast 622-hectare (1,537-acre) site located in the Mid Murray Council within the Stuart region.
Green Gold anticipates achieving shovel-ready status by the conclusion of 2024, with an estimated investment exceeding AUD 185 million (USD 125.3 million / EUR 115.1 million).
Additionally, the company disclosed plans to explore potential opportunities for green hydrogen production at the Morgan site.
