EnBW Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg AG initiated a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday for a new 60.5 MW solar park located in Gundelsheim, situated in the district of Heilbronn, southern Germany.
Scheduled for commissioning in the first quarter of 2025, the solar array represents the initial phase of the Gundelsheim Energy Park, which will encompass additional wind and energy storage capacities.
EnBW plans to install two Enercon E160 wind turbines, each generating 5.6 MW, at the site. The company anticipates submitting the application for the wind component in the third quarter of 2024, with commissioning slated for the third quarter of 2027. Furthermore, the project includes a 2.25 MWh battery storage facility.
Gundelsheim's mayor, Heike Schokatz, commented, “Our city provides the ideal location for the project: The site is large and suitable for both solar modules and wind turbines. At the same time, the site is located above Gundelsheim and away from existing residential buildings.”
