Severn Trent , a leading British renewable energy and waste recycling company, has announced ambitious plans to develop three large-scale parks in , marking a substantial expansion in its green power generation capacity.

In a statement released on Friday, the company revealed its partnership with UK-based solar and storage developer to finalize development rights for the projects. Located in Leicestershire, Warwickshire, and North , these photovoltaic (PV) farms are poised to collectively generate approximately 150 GWh of electricity annually. This initiative will bolster Severn Trent's overall renewable energy output to an estimated 500 GWh per year.

“The addition of these solar parks underscores our commitment to diversifying our renewable energy portfolio,” stated Farryad Ishaq, Strategy and Business Development Director at Severn Trent. “While anaerobic digestion remains central to our operations, we recognize the significant potential of solar, wind, and hydro power.”

The projects are currently progressing through the final stages of development, with all necessary permits, grid-connection agreements, and land leases secured. Severn Trent anticipates a two-year timeline for the construction of the proposed sites, emphasizing their readiness to contribute to the UK's renewable energy goals.

Additionally, plans for a fourth PV plant in Shropshire, near the Welsh border in the West Midlands of England, are under consideration and could expand Severn Trent's renewable energy portfolio in the near future.
