TotalEnergies has surpassed the milestone of installing more than 200MW of distributed solar assets across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, marking a significant advancement in its renewable energy portfolio.
The achievement follows the completion of a 6MWp rooftop solar project in Vietnam, developed in partnership with Chin Well Fasteners, a carbon steel fastener provider.
Under a power purchase agreement (PPA), TotalEnergies will supply approximately 30% of Chin Well Fasteners' electricity demand with clean energy.
Elodie Renaud, Director of TotalEnergies Renewables Distributed Generation Asia, expressed satisfaction with the milestone, stating, “I am pleased to achieve this milestone in a region full of opportunities.” Renaud highlighted TotalEnergies' ambitious goal to install 2GW of decentralised solar capacity in the APAC area, emphasizing the company's capability to deploy projects across diverse geographies and industries.
TotalEnergies now operates solar assets in collaboration with more than 190 business-to-business customers across nine countries in APAC. Renaud underscored the appeal of TotalEnergies' solutions for local and global companies, providing reliable, cost-effective, and clean energy solutions.
The milestone represents a significant advancement for TotalEnergies in the distributed solar sector, aligning with the company's broader goal of expanding its global solar portfolio to 35GW by 2025.
The rooftop solar market has shown robust growth globally, with installations reaching 118GW in 2022, up from 79GW the previous year, according to SolarPower Europe. This growth underscores the increasing importance of rooftop solar projects, particularly in regions where land availability is limited, despite some regional variations in market performance.
