Equinor has marked a significant milestone in its Empire Wind 1 offshore wind project with the delivery of the first steel plates to Sif's Maasvlakte facility. These plates will be crucial for the fabrication of 54 monopiles and transition pieces intended for the 810MW offshore wind farm set to energize New York.
Located off the coast of New York, Empire Wind 1 is poised to play a pivotal role in the state's renewable energy landscape, aiming to power up to 500,000 homes once operational. The project's progress follows Equinor's recent Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), solidifying its commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions in the region.
“The first transition piece for Empire Wind 1 is currently under manufacture in Roermond, marking a significant step forward in our project timeline,” stated a spokesperson from Equinor.
