VSB Finland Secures Permit for 350MW Wind Farm in Puutionsaari Renewable Project

VSB has obtained the final permit to proceed with the construction of a 350MW wind farm as part of its ambitious Puutionsaari wind/ hybrid project in North Ostrobothnia, marking a significant milestone for renewable energy development in the region.

The project, set to be VSB's largest renewable energy endeavor to date, aims to establish one of the most substantial hybrid park projects in Europe, combining wind and solar energy technologies.

Grolman emphasized the scale of investment involved, exceeding €500 million, underscoring VSB's commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure in Finland.

Managing director of VSB Finland, Seppo Tallgren, highlighted the project's potential to facilitate new technologies like green production through enhanced and consistent power generation.

“With construction of the wind farm slated to commence in 2025 and commissioning by 2028, we are eager to realize this exceptional project for Europe's energy landscape,” Tallgren added.

The hybrid park will feature a 350MW wind farm equipped with 49 turbines, with plans for a subsequent 100MWp solar array expected to gain full approval by autumn 2024. Once operational, the combined project is projected to generate sufficient clean electricity to power approximately 337,500 households.
