Irish state-owned energy company ESB has finalized a deal to acquire the owner of a 51.6-MW wind turbine complex situated in County Kerry, Ireland, and is currently pursuing regulatory approval for the transaction.
The proposed acquisition, the financial details of which remain undisclosed, has been submitted for review to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), as indicated in official filings.
ESB's subsidiary, ESB Wind Development Ltd, is set to purchase Pallas Windfarm Ltd, the owner of the Clahane wind park comprising a 37.8-MW facility and its 13.8-MW extension, both operational in the town of Clahane.
The CCPC is anticipated to conduct a preliminary investigation into the proposed acquisition, during which third parties are invited to submit relevant information pertaining to the transaction by June 19.
Although specific figures have not been disclosed, local media reports suggest that the sale of the two wind farms could amount to approximately EUR 55 million (USD 59.2m).
Pallas Windfarm is currently owned by The Renewables Infrastructure Group Ltd, which disclosed in March its agreement to divest the entity behind the two wind parks to an undisclosed buyer for an estimated EUR 62 million as part of its strategic asset rotation.
