Standard Energy’s 3-GW Smart Factory Set to Begin PV Cell Production in Thailand

, the company spearheading the initiative, announced on Friday that the (PV) cell production line of its new 3-GW smart factory in is slated to commence operations by July.

The firm has been diligently constructing the facility, which boasts an investment exceeding USD 100 million (EUR 92.3m), at the LK Rayong Industrial City Hub since the previous year.

The primary objective of the project is to augment production capacity for 3 GW of wafers and 3 GW of PV cells.

Standard Energy reported that the project has progressed to the stage of equipment installation. Subsequent to the launch of the PV cell line, efforts will be directed towards ensuring the operational readiness of the N-type silicon wafer production line by September.

According to Standard Energy, the establishment of this smart factory marks a significant milestone for Thailand, positioning it as the country's third-largest facility of its kind. Moreover, the project is anticipated to generate over 1,000 local employment opportunities.
