Actis Expands Renewable Energy Footprint with Acquisition of Enel Generación Perú

In a significant move within the sustainable infrastructure sector, Actis, a global investor, has successfully acquired Enel SpA's stakes in SAA and Compania Energetica Veracruz SAC. The , valued at approximately US$1.3 billion, marks Actis' tenth platform investment from Energy 5, its flagship energy fund, representing a substantial portion of its US$6 billion investable capital.

With the completion of this transaction, Actis now gains control over a diversified energy generation portfolio in , boasting a total capacity of 2.2 gigawatts spread across 12 operational assets, with an additional asset under construction. This portfolio includes a leading presence in , encompassing wind and assets alongside hydro and thermal assets.

Actis has articulated ambitious plans to expand the platform and accelerate its renewables growth to leverage market opportunities driven by increasing demand for affordable, reliable, and clean power. Nicolas Escallon, Partner in Energy Infrastructure at Actis, emphasized the strategic significance of the acquisition, stating, “This acquisition is a key addition to our energy portfolio and represents another important investment in the region for our flagship Energy 5 Fund.”

Alberto Estefan, another Partner in Energy Infrastructure at Actis, highlighted the platform's diversity, stating, “This diversified platform, which includes baseload natural gas as well as hydro and renewable assets, offers an attractive value proposition to the system and end users.” He further emphasized Actis' commitment to driving the energy transition forward, stating, “As ever, Actis wants to lead from the front on the energy transition and we believe it is key to driving value.”

Additionally, Actis has acquired additional shares in Enel Generación Perú from minority investors as part of a full takeover bid in the Lima Stock Exchange. This acquisition further bolsters Actis' presence in the Latin American energy market, following its investments in Serena Energy and Valia Energia in the region through the Actis Energy 5 Fund.

The acquisition represents Actis' continued dedication to investing in sustainable infrastructure and supporting the transition to clean energy, underscoring its position as a leading player in the global energy sector.
