Indian battery manufacturer is set to commence initial production at a 20-GWh factory in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, with plans to reach full capacity by 2026.

The company aims to start production in October, initially focusing on battery systems (BESS) with 7 GWh of the overall capacity.

The project, which requires an estimated investment of over INR 4.5 billion (USD 54.1m/EUR 49.6m), will create the largest battery production complex in once fully commissioned.

The gigafactory aims to support industries in achieving their green energy targets, thereby contributing to India's carbon reduction efforts. India has set a goal of expanding its capacity to 500 GW by 2030, up from 178 GW in August 2023.

During an industry event in Delhi, GoodEnough Energy's owner, Akash Kaushik, highlighted the project's response to the anticipated increase in demand for battery products, projected to reach 260 GWh by the end of the decade.
