Siemens Gamesa has secured a pivotal contract to provide turbines for Equinor and Grupa Polenergia's Baltyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms, boasting a combined capacity of 1440MW. The finalized agreement encompasses the production, delivery, and servicing of 100 of Siemens Gamesa's SG 14-236 DD turbines, acknowledged as the largest offshore turbines in the company's portfolio, each boasting a capacity of 14.4MW.
The contractual terms include comprehensive coverage, spanning design, production, commissioning, as well as ongoing maintenance and warranty services. Michal Jerzy Kolodziejczyk, Chairman of the Management Board of Equinor in Poland, emphasized the significance of this milestone in the projects' development, stating, “The conclusion of the final agreement with the turbine supplier for the Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 projects is a key step in the development of these projects. Our priority is to introduce the highest quality technologies to the Polish market, which will allow for the construction of a modern offshore wind energy sector. Our goals include providing Poland with clean energy from renewable sources, based on leading and most efficient solutions. The Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 wind farms planned for 2027 will be among the first in the Polish sea. Their launch will have a significant impact on the energy security of Polish, ensuring stable renewable energy for many years to come.”
Scheduled for completion in 2027, the Baltyk 2 and 3 wind farms are poised to become pioneering installations in Poland's offshore renewable energy landscape, promising to bolster the nation's energy security with a sustainable and reliable power source for years ahead.
