Renewable energy firm Fred Olsen Windcarrier has been awarded a contract by Orsted and PGE to install 48 out of the 107 turbines planned for the 1500MW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in Poland. The company will deploy one of its specialized jack-up vessels for the project, mobilizing it to the designated loadout quay and subsequently to the Baltica 2 site during spring 2027.
Alexandra Koefoed, Chief Executive of Fred Olsen Windcarrier, expressed pride in being chosen as a reliable partner for the Polish project by Orsted and PGE. The contract signifies a strategic move for the company in the highly prioritized Polish wind energy market.
“The Polish wind energy market is a highly prioritised market for us, and we are extremely proud to be chosen by Orsted and PGE as a reliable partner for this Polish project. This contract will continue to strengthen our relationship, and we look forward to supporting Orsted and PGE in the Baltica 2 project in Poland in 2027,” stated Koefoed.
Baltica 2 was selected for the first phase of Poland's offshore wind buildout program by the Polish Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) in 2021, securing the Contract for Difference (CFD). The wind farm, located in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea, is a key component of the country's ambitious offshore wind expansion plans.
