Chinese solar tracker manufacturer Arctech has entered the Turkish market through a strategic collaboration with Alpon Energy, a solar company specializing in solar trackers and providing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services. The partnership aims to leverage Alpon Energy's capabilities in project management, logistical support, and technical services, including installation supervision and commissioning assistance for Arctech's products in specified territories.
Franklin Hoo, Deputy General Manager of MEA and APAC Business Support at Arctech, expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating that it positions both companies to become leading providers of solar tracking and racking solutions in the region. The move into Turkey aligns with the promising prospects of the Turkish solar market.
Arctech has a history of collaboration with Turkish solar entities. In 2018, the company signed a partnership agreement with Turkish solar PV manufacturer Europower to manufacture solar tracking systems in Turkey. Additionally, Arctech supplied its SkyLine trackers to projects in Turkey in 2019.
Turkey's energy minister, Alparslan Bayraktar, previously announced the country's ambitious target to install 5GW of solar and wind capacity annually until 2035. This commitment is part of Turkey's broader goal of achieving a reliable, affordable, and environmentally friendly energy supply. As outlined in Turkey's National Energy Plan, the installed power capacity is projected to increase from 95.9GW in 2020 to 189.7GW by 2035, with renewables accounting for 64.7% of the total capacity. Solar PV is expected to play a pivotal role, reaching a capacity of 52.9GW by 2035.
