Indian independent power producer (IPP) KPI Green Energy has inked a supply agreement with PV manufacturer for 300MW of bifacial mono-PERC modules. The panels resulting from this collaboration will play a crucial role in the development of a 240MW solar plant located in , 's western state.

With the delivery timeframe spanning between June 2024 and May 2025, some modules are slated for dispatch as early as March 2024. Gujarat, the second-highest state in India in terms of solar PV pipeline capacity, boasted over 9.6GW by the close of 2022, ranking just behind Rajasthan, according to data from clean energy research firm Bridge to India.

Emmvee, having forged a partnership with the German solar research center last year, is making strides in solar cell manufacturing in southern India. The collaboration aims to establish a 1.5GW solar cell manufacturing plant near Bangalore, with a production line featuring mono passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) and tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) cells.

While the completion timeline for the plant remains undisclosed, Emmvee anticipates achieving a domestic Indian annual cell capacity of 1.5GW by 2024. Notably, in 2021, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Karnataka to establish a 3GW cell and module assembly plant in the state.
