Norwegian state-owned energy firm Statkraft AS has successfully completed the acquisition of two wind farms in Brazil, boasting a combined capacity of 260 MW, from EDP Renovaveis SA. The assets, situated in the northeastern state of Rio Grande do Norte, were valued at BRL 1.57 billion (USD 323.5m/EUR 292.8m) in enterprise terms as of the end of 2022, as per the seller's earlier statement.
This strategic move expands Statkraft's presence in the Brazilian renewable energy landscape, with the company now owning wind parks in seven states across the country. The acquired wind farms feature turbines manufactured by Danish company Vestas Wind Systems A/S.

Fernando de Lapuerta, Statkraft's country manager for Brazil, emphasized the company's commitment to further growth in the Brazilian market, particularly in expanding its wind and solar portfolio.
The integration process of the newly acquired assets into Statkraft's existing portfolio is set to commence, with an estimated timeline of around six months. This acquisition aligns with Statkraft's ongoing efforts to strengthen its position in the renewable energy sector, marking a significant step in the company's strategic expansion in Brazil.
