France Awards Contracts to 54 Onshore Wind Projects in Successful Tender

has successfully concluded its latest onshore wind tender, awarding contracts to 54 projects in the fifth PPE2 auction. The cumulative capacity of the awarded projects totals 931.31MW, slightly exceeding the initial target of 925MW. The average price secured by the projects in this round stands at €86.94/MWh.

A total of 101 applications were submitted for the onshore wind projects in the auction, representing a combined capacity of 1603.91MW. The selected projects are mandated to be constructed within the next 36 months and commissioned by November 2026.

Prominent companies securing successful bids include Calyce, TTR, JPEE, , Abowind, RWE, Vent du Nord, , Ostwind, with these entities collectively accounting for more than 50% of the total awarded volume.

Geographically, the most productive regions in this tender were , Grand-Est, and Hauts-de-France, together amassing 56% of the total awarded capacity. The auction's outcome reflects France's commitment to expanding its onshore wind capacity and fostering a diverse energy mix to meet its goals.

The success of the fifth PPE2 auction underscores the ongoing momentum in France's renewable energy sector and reinforces the country's position in advancing its clean energy transition.
