Gresham House Energy Storage Fund Activates 50-MW West Didsbury Battery System in Manchester

plc has successfully activated the 50-MW/50-MWh West Didsbury system (BESS) in Manchester, marking a significant addition to its operational portfolio.

According to a statement released today, the commissioning of the West Didsbury project brings GRID's total energized BESS capacity in 2023 to 140 MW. This accomplishment contributes to the fund's overall operational assets, which now stand at an impressive 690 MW.

The project was developed and constructed by Limited, with Arenko Cleantech Limited taking charge of optimizing trading activities. The facility is set to commence revenue generation next month, and plans are underway for a duration extension to two hours early next year.

Ben Guest, the fund manager of GRID, expressed satisfaction with the progress, stating, “We are making good progress towards fully commissioning our 2023 pipeline and reaching our target of 1GW of operational projects by H1 2024 and 1.1GW/1.7GWh by the end of 2024, excluding any potential disposals.”
