Tata Power Appoints Deepesh Nanda as President of Renewables and CEO/MD of TPREL

, a prominent integrated power company in India, has announced the appointment of Mr. as President of Renewables and CEO & MD of Tata Power Limited (TPREL), effective from November 1, 2023. With a rich history in the energy sector, Mr. Nanda has previously held key roles in renowned companies such as GE, Flowserve, and Tyco.

Notable positions in his career include CEO for in South Asia and President & CEO of GE's Aero-derivative Gas Turbine business segment for Asia. In his new role, Mr. Nanda is set to lead efforts in advancing growth and profitability in Tata Power's renewable energy portfolio, which encompasses solar, wind, hybrid, and B2C green energy solutions. Additionally, he will spearhead innovation and digital transformation initiatives within the renewable energy sector.

Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, expressed his anticipation of Mr. Nanda's appointment, stating, “We welcome Deepesh Nanda to the Tata Power family. This leadership transition within Tata Power signifies a strategic move to enhance focus on various business and growth areas. Mr. Ashish Khanna, a seasoned professional at Tata Power, will now assume the role of President of the Generation business cluster.

This division encompasses upcoming pumped hydro storage plants, hydro facilities, and new initiatives, alongside existing hydro and plants in India and abroad. Dr. Sinha acknowledged Mr. Khanna's significant contributions to the growth of Tata Power Solar and Renewables, which has become one of India's foremost renewable energy companies under his leadership. Dr. Sinha extended his appreciation, saying, “I would like to thank Ashish Khanna for his outstanding contribution to the growth and success of our renewable energy business over the last seven years. Under his leadership, TPREL has become one of the largest renewable energy companies in the country, with a portfolio of over 4 GW of operational and another 3 GW of under-construction projects. I am confident that he will give direction and growth in his new role in our Generation businesses.”
