Renewable energy giant Vestas has achieved a significant milestone by securing its inaugural firm order for the latest addition to its EnVentus platform, the V172-7.2MW turbine. The order has been placed for a 43MW wind project in Germany and is a collaborative effort between Vestas and developer Uhl Windkraft.
Vestas is set to deliver six of its state-of-the-art V172-7.2MW turbines for the Hoßkirch wind project, in association with the Comital House of Koenigsegg-Aulendorf. This undertaking is scheduled to commence turbine delivery in the second quarter of 2025, with commissioning anticipated to conclude in the third quarter of the same year.
The comprehensive order encompasses the supply, delivery, and commissioning of the turbines. Additionally, Vestas has committed to servicing the turbines for a duration of 25 years upon project completion.
Jens Kück, Senior Vice President Sales Onshore for Northern and Central Europe at Vestas, expressed his satisfaction with this significant development, stating, “We are very pleased to announce the first V172-7.2MW order for Vestas, which marks the next milestone for our modular platform architecture. Our thanks go to Uhl Windkraft and the Comital House of Koenigsegg-Aulendorf for the trust in us and our technology.”
The V172-7.2MW turbine, with its focus on optimized energy production in low to medium average wind conditions, is notably suited for regions with low-wind environments, such as Baden-Württemberg in Germany. This project stands as a valuable contribution to Germany's ongoing energy transition efforts.
