has officially launched operations at the 200MW Sunflower Wind development in the state of Kansas. This milestone represents a significant contribution to the region's clean energy landscape.

Beyond its clean energy production, the Sunflower Wind project holds promise for the local community. Over the next three decades, it is expected to inject substantial property tax revenue, amounting to tens of millions of dollars, into the local economy. This infusion of funds will play a pivotal role in supporting essential local infrastructure, schools, and emergency services, all while alleviating the financial burden on local taxpayers.

One noteworthy aspect of this project is its commitment to mitigating light pollution. To address this concern, the Sunflower Wind development will utilize an innovative Detection Lighting System. This technology ensures that the night-time lights on the turbines only blink when aircraft are detected, minimizing light pollution and enhancing the quality of life for nearby residents.

David Hardy, Group Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Americas at Orsted, expressed his enthusiasm for this achievement and the positive impact it will have on the Kansas community. He stated, “We're thrilled to celebrate this achievement and our first clean energy project in Kansas with the community, legislators, and our participating landowners.” Mr. Hardy also highlighted Orsted's growing presence in the , with Sunflower Wind marking the 13th operational in the country, collectively generating 832MW in the Southwest Power Pool.

Governor Laura Kelly also weighed in on the significance of the Sunflower Wind project. She emphasized its role in creating jobs, attracting private investment, and preserving the region's natural beauty. Governor Kelly highlighted the installation of light mitigating technology as a noteworthy step to protect the night skies and maintain the ecological integrity of the scenic Kansas Flint Hills.

The commencement of operations at the Sunflower Wind development not only signifies progress in clean energy generation but also underscores the positive economic and environmental contributions that projects can bring to local communities.
