Haskoning Nederland has been appointed to carry out initial technical and conceptual design studies for the Elwind offshore wind project jointly developed by Estonia and Latvia, officials said.
The work will focus on the pre-front-end engineering and design (pre-FEED) phase, aiming to establish a baseline technical concept and define the scope and next development steps for the project, which is planned to have at least 1 gigawatt of capacity.
The study will include an assessment of Baltic Sea site conditions, optimisation of the wind farm layout and evaluation of potential grid connection options.
Haskoning Nederland said it will deliver the assignment in partnership with Empire Engineering, which will be responsible for foundation design.
