Fu-Gen has closed a 125MW ready-to-build battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Vuolijoki, central Finland, with Nala Renewables.

The transaction is the first to be completed under a framework agreement the companies established in October 2025 covering a Finnish battery storage portfolio, Fu-Gen said.

Nala Renewables interim chief executive Remy Verot said the agreement highlights Finland’s growing strategic role for energy storage deployment in Europe.

The partners have previously collaborated on the 50MW Kauhava BESS facility in southern Ostrobothnia, which Nala acquired from Fu-Gen as a ready-to-build project earlier in 2025.

Fu-Gen development director Seppo Tupeli said: “Delivering another large-scale, ready-to-build BESS project demonstrates the strength of our Nordic development strategy and our ability to bring extensive energy solutions to the Nordic market.

“We are proud to collaborate with Nala Renewables and contribute to the decarbonization and stability of Finland’s electricity system.”

Construction of the Vuolijoki project is expected to begin later this year.
