RWE has signed a five-year power purchase agreement with Lidl GB to supply 100GWh of renewable electricity annually from the Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm.
Lidl said the contract will cover just over 15% of its national electricity demand.
Power will be sourced from the 576MW Gwynt y Môr project in the Irish Sea, which comprises 160 turbines and was commissioned in 2015.
The agreement builds on an existing partnership between the two companies in Germany, where RWE and Lidl signed a long-term PPA in 2023 for electricity from the Kaskasi offshore wind farm covering the period from 2028 to 2038.
Lidl GB operates more than 1,000 stores and 13 distribution centres across England, Scotland and Wales, employing over 35,000 people.
Globally, Lidl is part of Schwarz Group, which runs around 12,600 stores and more than 230 logistics centres in 31 countries.
