German renewable energy firm Enova Value has received approval to repower the Boldecker Land wind farm in Lower Saxony, replacing older turbines with 68 megawatts (MW) of new capacity, the company said on Tuesday.
The project will involve the replacement of ten existing Vestas V80 turbines with ten modern Nordex N163 machines, spread across the municipalities of Barwedel and Jembke in the Gifhorn district.
Once operational, the repowered site is expected to generate enough electricity to supply approximately 43,000 households annually.
The project was approved under Germany’s Federal Immission Control Act, with consent granted nine months after application submission. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with commissioning targeted for late 2027.
Enova acquired the site from a private equity fund in 2024 and is partnering with developer Altus on the repowering effort.
“This milestone is the result of excellent cooperation – especially with our partner Altus, with whom we started repowering planning immediately after purchasing the wind farm, and the municipalities,” said Fabian Tews, lead project manager at Enova.
The announcement follows Enova’s recent connection of the nearby 15.3MW Jembke wind farm to the grid, a turnkey acquisition from BayWa r.e., further strengthening the company’s presence in the region.
