The HSI joint venture has rolled out the Zingst offshore substation topside at HSM Offshore Energy’s yard in Schiedam, marking a key milestone for transmission system operator 50Hertz’s Ostwind3 grid connection in the German Baltic Sea.
The consortium – comprising HSM Offshore Energy, Smulders and Iv – said the structure forms part of the OST-6-1 connection, which will link the Gennaker offshore wind farm to Germany’s onshore grid via the Zingst and Darß substations.
The Zingst topside measures 48 metres by 33 metres by 17.5 metres and weighs around 4,700 tonnes. The roll-out clears the way for load-out, sail-away and offshore installation.
Under its EPCIC contract, the HSI partners are responsible for delivering the Ostwind3, Zingst and Darß topsides and jackets.
“Rolling out the Zingst topside underscores the strength of our consortium and our shared commitment to supporting Europe’s offshore wind expansion,” said Hans Leerdam, chief commercial officer at HSM Offshore Energy.
Smulders commercial director Wim Vaes said the milestone reflected the technical effort across the partnership and marked “a meaningful contribution to Europe’s sustainable energy ambitions”.
Fedor van Veen, managing director offshore and energy at Iv, added that the roll-out demonstrated how months of engineering had translated into a buildable offshore platform.
