German renewable energy developer Energiekontor has agreed the turnkey sale of the Haberloh and Heidkrug onshore wind parks in Lower Saxony to Austrian utility illwerke vkw, with a combined nominal capacity of about 93 megawatts, the companies said.
The transaction was concluded before the end of 2025 and marked Energiekontor’s seventh project sale of the year. Illwerke vkw said the acquisition will allow it to expand its Völkersen wind site to around 104 MW once the two new parks are commissioned.
The Haberloh and Heidkrug projects will comprise 13 Vestas V162 turbines, each rated at 7.2 MW, with hub heights of around 169 metres and rotor diameters of 162 metres. Average annual electricity production in the first full year of operation is expected to reach about 220 gigawatt hours.
The wind parks secured support under Germany’s Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) through a feed-in tariff awarded in the May 2025 tender. Turnkey handover to the buyer is planned for the end of 2027.
“The conclusion of the purchase agreements for the two wind parks marks a successful operational end to the 2025 financial year, with a total of seven sales and 14 financial closes,” Energiekontor chief executive Peter Szabo said. He added that the projects would create “another reliable earnings base for the coming years” and described the continued cooperation with illwerke vkw as a sign of trust in the quality of Energiekontor’s developments.
Illwerke vkw management board member Gerd Wegeler said the acquisition supports the company’s long-term expansion strategy in renewables. “By acquiring the Haberloh and Heidkrug wind parks, we are continuing to move forward on our path towards a renewable energy future,” he said, adding that the utility aims to lift electricity production from wind and solar to 1,000 gigawatt hours by 2040.
