ScottishPower Renewables has appointed engineering consultancy Boslan to supervise manufacturing and quality control of key components for its East Anglia Two offshore wind farm in the North Sea, the developer said.
Boslan will oversee the acceptance of major elements including offshore and onshore substations, platform foundations, inter-array and export cables, wind turbines and other mechanical equipment. The scope includes both offshore and onshore services, such as factory inspections, quality management, supervision of pre-assembly activities, logistics inspections and coordination of offshore construction and installation.
The company said Boslan will deploy a multidisciplinary team drawing on more than 20 years of experience in managing large-scale energy and infrastructure programmes that require strict quality and schedule control.
“East Anglia TWO is a significant and complex project, so it’s great to be able to leverage the synergies offered by Boslan as a single supplier to ensure quality and timely delivery,” said Michael Hotze, execution director for East Anglia Two at ScottishPower Renewables.
Boslan said the appointment underscores the scale of the project, which is among the largest renewable developments in the UK. “East Anglia TWO is one of the most significant renewable energy projects in the UK, and we are committed to helping ScottishPower Renewables deliver it,” said Isaac Gómez, chief executive of Boslan.
Located around 33 kilometres off the Suffolk coast, East Anglia Two will comprise 64 wind turbines with a total capacity of up to 960 megawatts, enough to supply electricity to almost one million homes.
Offshore construction is expected to begin in 2027, with the wind farm scheduled to enter operation in 2028.
