NextEra Energy has broadened its partnerships with Google and Meta under new agreements covering several gigawatts of clean power, large-scale data-centre developments and advanced digital technologies, the companies said on Thursday.
NextEra chairman and chief executive John Ketchum said the collaboration with Google will include jointly developing multiple gigawatt-scale data-centre campuses in the United States and expanding enterprise-wide deployment of artificial intelligence tools. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said the work involves AI-enhanced field operations and grid-forecasting systems, with the first commercial product expected to appear in the Google Cloud Marketplace by mid-2026.
The announcement extends an existing relationship that includes roughly 3.5 GW of operational or contracted capacity and recent long-term power purchase agreements in Iowa and Oklahoma.
Separately, NextEra Energy Resources and Meta have reached around 2.5 GW of clean-energy contracts across 13 projects expected to come online between 2026 and 2028. The partners said the agreements include 2.1 GW of solar across ERCOT, SPP and MISO, along with 190 MW of solar and 168 MW of storage in New Mexico under PNM’s Rate 36B programme. New Mexico governor Michelle Lujan Grisham said the arrangements reflect continued investment in the state’s clean-energy sector.
“We are proud to continue our collaboration with NextEra Energy Resources in advancing energy infrastructure and storage solutions,” said Urvi Parekh, Meta’s head of energy.
NextEra Energy Resources president and chief executive Brian Bolster said the deals build on nearly 500 MW of operating projects already supported by Meta and demonstrate a shared commitment to U.S. clean-energy leadership.
