Vattenfall has appointed David Flood as its new head of offshore wind, the company said on Friday. Flood joins from Norway’s Statkraft, where he led the offshore wind division, and will assume the role on 2 March.
Catrin Jung, head of Vattenfall’s business area wind, said Flood brings “outstanding experience from more than 15 years in offshore wind, working across the entire value chain in joint ventures and partnerships.” She added that his industry knowledge, network and strategic outlook would be “invaluable as we advance Vattenfall’s offshore ambitions.”
Jung said she was “delighted to welcome David and look forward to the fresh insights and leadership he will bring to Vattenfall.”
Flood said he was pleased to take on the role, describing offshore wind as “a key part of the company’s mission to enable fossil freedom as a profitable energy business.” He added that Vattenfall has developed “a world-class offshore wind portfolio with strong operations and flagship projects across Northern Europe” and is well positioned for future growth.
Flood has spent two decades in the fossil-free energy sector, working across offshore and onshore wind, solar, hydropower and grid services. He has held senior management positions in major European renewable energy projects.
He will report directly to Jung and join Vattenfall’s business area wind management team.
