Catalyst Power Holdings LLC, a U.S.-based provider of retail and cleaner energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers, said on Monday that DRW Energy Trading LLC has made a strategic equity investment in the company. The deal, which closed earlier this week, aims to support Catalyst Power’s continued growth and diversification in the evolving energy markets.
The financial terms of the investment were not disclosed. DRW Energy Trading is part of DRW Holdings LLC, a global trading firm with broad experience in capital markets and risk management.
“This partnership with DRW represents a significant milestone in Catalyst Power’s growth strategy,” said Gabriel Phillips, CEO of Catalyst Power. “By combining DRW’s financial expertise and innovative approach to markets with our established energy supply and microgrid businesses, we are positioning ourselves to accelerate our expansion and enhance our offerings to commercial and industrial customers.”
Catalyst Power develops customized energy supply services that include retail electricity, Connected Microgrid® systems, solar, combined heat and power (CHP), and energy storage. The company leverages proprietary technology to analyze and finance cost-effective clean energy projects tailored to specific customer needs.
Aaron Yaffa, Partner at DRW, said the firm sees major opportunities in the transition toward cleaner, decentralized energy. “The rapid evolution of energy markets presents significant opportunities for growth, which we believe Catalyst Power is well positioned to capture,” Yaffa said. “We are excited to bring our expertise in hedging, capital and risk management, and trading to partner with Catalyst to execute its strategy, identify new opportunities to scale the business and deliver powerful solutions to the markets in which it operates.”
The investment underscores growing private-sector interest in energy innovation, particularly as businesses seek solutions to reduce emissions and energy costs while improving resiliency. Catalyst Power said it plans to use the capital to accelerate deployment of its clean energy technologies and expand its market presence in the commercial and industrial energy segments.
