Two leading Dutch industry organisations, Holland Home of Wind Energy (HHWE) and maritime trade association NMT-IRO, will merge on 1 January 2026 in a bid to strengthen the Netherlands’ offshore wind sector internationally.
The merger was approved by HHWE members during an extraordinary general meeting, the organisations announced on Monday. The combined entity aims to enhance the visibility and influence of the Dutch offshore wind industry in global markets.
“This merger creates a stronger, more unified representation of the Dutch offshore wind sector abroad,” said NMT-IRO director Jeroen de Graaf. “By combining our knowledge, networks and initiatives, we increase our impact and are better positioned to support the international growth ambitions of our members.”
The alliance is expected to provide a wider range of services, including greater efficiency in trade missions and exhibitions, improved strategic communication, and a broader network for member companies.
HHWE chairman Wim Jenniskens described the merger as a strategic step. “This is a strategic alliance that unites the strongest players in the Dutch maritime, offshore and renewable sectors. Together, we’re building a powerful platform for the future,” he said.
Ahead of the merger, HHWE’s team will gradually integrate into the NMT-IRO office. A joint member briefing is scheduled for September to outline the transition process and next steps.
Both organisations said the merger reflects their shared goal of supporting the Netherlands’ role in the global energy transition by expanding the reach and capabilities of Dutch offshore wind stakeholders.
