German contractor Greencells Group has been selected by Enray Power to construct a large-scale solar and battery storage project in Camblesforth, North Yorkshire, as the company continues to expand its presence in the UK renewables market.
Greencells has signed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and operation and maintenance (O&M) contracts for the 68.5 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar farm, which will also feature a 25.2 megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system. The system will enable up to 10 megawatts (MWac) of grid injection over a two-hour window, aimed at enhancing grid flexibility and boosting long-term energy performance.
“With Camblesforth we continue a decade of successful project execution in the UK and take another step towards integrated future-ready infrastructure,” said Greencells Chief Executive Fabian Herr.
The Camblesforth development adds to Greencells’ UK portfolio, which now comprises nearly 50 completed projects with a combined installed capacity of more than 500MWp since entering the British market in 2014.
Greencells said the project not only strengthens its track record in utility-scale solar but also reflects a growing focus on integrated solutions that combine renewable generation with storage capabilities.
