Wind turbine manufacturer Senvion has confirmed a firm order with Continuum Green Energy for 100 onshore wind turbines, converting a conditional agreement signed in 2024 into a committed 420 megawatt (MW) deal.
The contract, originally announced in September 2024, included 50 confirmed 4.2M160 turbines with an option for 50 more. Senvion said all 100 turbines are now fully committed, with deliveries scheduled to begin in April 2026.
The turbines will be deployed across multiple sites in India developed by Continuum, a renewable energy company focused on utility-scale wind and solar projects.
“The 4XM platform is the most indigenously developed Senvion turbine with a high level of localisation of components and technology,” said Amit Kansal, CEO and Managing Director of Senvion India. “The turbines are specially designed for Indian wind conditions and environment.”
Senvion’s 4.2M160 is its most advanced onshore turbine to date, featuring a 160-metre rotor and flexible hub height options. The platform was developed through Indo-German collaboration and is tailored for performance across diverse wind regimes. The company said over 85% of components will be manufactured in India, supporting domestic supply chains and employment.
Continuum Green Energy CEO Arvind Bansal said the finalisation of the order reflects a strategic partnership.
“Finalizing this order with Senvion follows a structured evaluation of technical performance, supply assurance, and service readiness,” Bansal said. “The decision supports our broader roadmap to integrate scalable clean energy into India’s power mix.”
Senvion aims to deploy 2GW of turbine capacity in India by 2026 as part of its long-term strategy to expand local manufacturing and support India’s renewable energy targets.
