Ingeteam has been awarded two contracts by European Energy to provide technology for two new photovoltaic plants in Australia, further contributing to the country’s renewable energy goals.
The Lancaster and Mulwala solar plants will be located in Victoria and New South Wales, respectively. The Lancaster plant will have an installed capacity of 106 megawatts (MW), while Mulwala will have a capacity of 31MW. The projects are expected to come online next year and together generate approximately 255 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of renewable energy annually, enough to power around 54,000 homes.
Ingeteam will supply 77 of its INGECON SUN Power B Series inverters, which will be integrated into 22 medium-voltage power transformer stations. The company’s scope of work also includes the commissioning of the equipment and control electronics for the photovoltaic plants (PPCs).
Jorge Guillén, Ingeteam’s sales manager for photovoltaic and storage in Australia, commented: “This is the first project we have carried out for this client, which has placed its trust in Ingeteam because of our technical capacity and proven solvency in the more than 4GW supplied in the country.”
Guillén added, “We are very proud to contribute to the electrification of Australia, decarbonizing its energy matrix.”
Ingeteam has been operating in Australia for over a decade, with a subsidiary in North Wollongong. The company has a 25% share of the solar market in the country and is known for its strong presence as a technology partner, assisting plant developers in meeting the rigorous technical requirements for grid connection.
