Navantia Seanergies and Semco Maritime have officially announced a new partnership aimed at enhancing their combined capabilities in the offshore wind sector. The agreement, revealed today (April 9) during the WindEurope exhibition in Copenhagen, pairs Europe’s largest industrial-scale offshore wind manufacturer with a leading HVAC offshore substation supplier.
Thomas Thomsen, Senior Vice President of Semco Maritime’s Renewables division, and Javier Herrador, Vice President of Navantia Seanergies, hosted the announcement at the Navantia Seanergies stand at the event. Both companies expressed optimism about the collaborative potential of their combined expertise in the offshore energy market.
The partnership brings together over two decades of experience in offshore substations, with the two companies having delivered more than 30 substations worldwide. The companies highlighted their shared goal of providing reliable and efficient energy solutions, leveraging their deep knowledge to create proven configurations for offshore wind projects.
“Our collaboration with Semco Maritime aligns with our strategic vision for promoting the energy transition and decarbonizing society,” said Herrador. “Together, we will strengthen our presence in the offshore wind market, particularly in the offshore substation segment, by leveraging the synergies and complementarity of our capabilities and corporate cultures.”
Thomsen, who also spoke at the event, emphasized the significance of the partnership in expanding Semco Maritime’s presence in the offshore wind industry. “By combining our extensive experience in HVAC offshore substations with Navantia Seanergies’ industrial capabilities, we are poised to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions that meet the growing demand for clean energy,” Thomsen stated.
The partnership will initially focus on projects in Europe and North America, complementing existing collaborations in the Asia-Pacific market, including ongoing work with Vietnam’s PTSC M&C. “We highly value our partnership with PTSC M&C and remain committed to its continued success,” Thomsen added, referencing the company’s expansion into the APAC region.
Both companies emphasized their shared commitment to sustainable energy solutions and their belief that the collaboration will set new industry standards.
