Peruvian energy companies Celepsa and Zelestra have signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) that will enable the construction of a 238MWdc solar project in Peru. The agreement ensures the supply of approximately 450GWh of renewable energy annually for Celepsa's operations.
The new solar project, alongside Zelestra's upcoming San Martín project, will expand the company's contracted portfolio to over 530MWdc in Peru.
José Luis García, Chief Executive of Zelestra, commented, “This agreement reflects our firm commitment to work strategically with our customers to offer tailor-made solutions, as well as our commitment to the Peruvian market. We are proud to contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions in the country and to promote continued socio-economic development through the delivery of new projects and the creation of new jobs.”
Eduardo Rivas, General Manager of Celepsa, added, “This agreement reinforces our commitment to the energy transition and is a strategic step that allows us to build a diversified renewable portfolio for our customers. In addition to the purchase of solar energy, the contract includes I-REC certificates, guaranteeing the renewable origin of the energy.
