TotalEnergies has announced investment decisions for six storage projects in Germany, totaling 221MW of new capacity with an investment of €160 million. These projects, developed by Kyon Energy, which TotalEnergies acquired in 2024, will primarily utilize state-of-the-art batteries supplied by Saft, a subsidiary of the company.

Construction for the projects commenced at the end of 2024, and the installations are expected to be commissioned in early 2026.

Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, commented on the developments, stating, “We are delighted with this significant step forward in the development of our integrated electricity business in Germany, Europe's largest electricity market.”

He added, “The implementation and integration of all these battery projects will allow us to provide green electricity to our customers 24 hours a day and will thus directly contribute to the achievement of our target of 12% profitability in this business.”

These battery storage projects are part of TotalEnergies' broader efforts to expand its renewable energy portfolio and enhance the company's integrated electricity offerings in Germany.
