The first of three offshore substations for the 2,600 MW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project has been successfully installed, marking a key milestone in the development of the wind farm. Dominion Energy confirmed in November 2024 that the offshore substation foundations were installed during the first installation season, signaling progress toward the project's completion.
The 2.6 GW offshore wind farm is being constructed 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach. The project is expected to play a significant role in advancing renewable energy production in the region.
In the coming months, turbine installation is set to begin, further advancing the project's timeline.
